1-16 scale study
the LGB is modeled after the 1 meter narrow tracks in Europe and run's on almost 2 inch wide tracks
since there is also plenty of industrial narrow gauge tracks in all kind of track-widths ,
like the 30 inch narrow gauge in the US and Europe ( 750+760 mm )
what again would be around 2 inch , G-scale tracks in 1:16 scale
I got the idea to modify some G-scale locomotives to give them the 1:16 scale appearance
more like an illusion as accurate down to the detail
as an industrial type train , almost anything goes , as long it looks 1/2 way to scale
and with the use of freight-car's , as long the loco looks right , the scale doesn't matter so much
and the unmodified 1:22.5 stuff will be used in the background
here now some scale-study's :
LGB 2051 in 1:22.5 scale this is what it would look like in 1:16 scale
and here now some conversation idea's to give it the 1:16 scale appearance :
( the height is the main-factor and then used with some 1:16 scale figures )
raised body
raised cab
raised cab in the rear
for sure a nice diesel , almost a shame to cut it up ...
click the photo to see what this diesel-loco looks like between 1:16 scale stuff ...
I know , for the true model-rail-roader this looks funky , but don't forget ,
I am just trying to create an illusion , it does not has to be exact ,
it just needs to look like it would fit to the other 1:16 scale stuff
here a study with a Bachmann 1:20.3 diesel-loco :
12/13/2005 I just got me one of these Bachmann diesel-loco's
check out what it looks like :
and here how the modified version for a more 1/16 scale look :

here now some idea's with LGB steam locomotives

now to the rail-cars , since I want to use this train-setup for transporting good's
I only need freight-car's ...
the standard LGB 4axle flat-beds are around 4.25" wide and around 15" long
I found a manufacture makes US narrow gauge in 1:20.3 scale
and there flat-bed's are 5" wide and 20" long and higher !
this would be the same car in LGB scale
so these AMS flat-car's should help to bump up the scale appearance ....
I know , there are a lot of rail-roader's out there they scratch-build there stuff ,
well , I just don't have the time for that and look for simple quick ways to get this done
if anybody has any idea's comments , hint's for this project ,
please contact me ...
any comments or help with this are highly appreciated
