as of Febr.2007 Tamiya announced the release of there Panther ,
as an answer to the WeCoHe Panther kit
fact is that the Tamiya Panther lacks a lot of detailes ,
the WeCoHe Panther is a kit to build a true Museums quality model !
WeCoHe has worked very hard to produce an outstanding kit for a
1/16 scale full option and battle ready Panther
with much more details as the Tamiya Panther

you have to use the tracks , road-wheels , drive-sprockets from a Tiger 1 kit ..
which doesn't look bad at all , check out my previously build Panther-illusion ,
which uses Tiger tracks and wheels ...
of course you always have the option to upgrade to the fully detailed Panther ,

Requires Tamiya Tiger I full option for electronics and and other parts.

this Panther kit is designed
to be used with the stock Tamiya Tiger 1 ( or King Tiger ) gearboxes
which should bring it up to about scale-speed ...
if you want more torque I would recommend the WeCoHe transmission upgrade kit :
the other option are the use of 8 tooth motor-pinions with high-rpm 380/400/480 type motors ...
more about motor and gear-box-option as soon I have build up a test-chassis of this Panther ...
