To recap the June event at the tank museum...(better late than never).
We had tons of battles Saturday with 21 tankers and then again on Sunday when 13 tankers stayed for more action. I shot some video of the weekend, but the camcorder was defective, causing digital breakup in the image throughout the whole tape, so it's nearly unwatchable!
However, I did shoot a few random snapshots, and here they are:
1) This is an interesting hybrid tank fielded by Bob Stull of Virginia. Notice the M26 turret on an M4 hull.
2) Scott and Michael of the H*E*A*T club are always fun to compete with.
3) I took my baby Jack on a tour of the real tanks at the museum. This is the authentic Panzer IV on display in the large building.
4) James S. ran his Porsche King Tiger for the first time. Notice the awesome mod parts by Daryl Turner...
including the gun mantlet and the rear hatch pieces.
5) I also picked up some cool mods from Daryl. These will go over my Sherman drive axles.
6) Randy oils up his Panther gearboxes for battle.
7) Several tankers gather to talk before starting another battle.
8) This is my Japanese Type 97 tank that I ran as a "light" in battles...
thanks in great part to some electronic upgrades by James StewartNewman.
9) Here Willy gets his giant trucks ready for "tank recovery battles".
10) Henry of ACE club makes a return visit to Danville after a couple years away.
11) It seems like Bret Benson brings a cool new tank to each event!
This time he has a nice "Winter Walker Bulldog" that is converted with a Tamiya Battle System.
Randy Frank has over a hundred more photos of the Danville June event, including a big group photo and tons of battlefield action shots.

Thanks once again to Doug Gasser for facilitating a flawless event.
And thanks to the entire museum staff for making us R/C tankers feel so welcome in Danville!
